Meet Vanessa
I'm Vanessa, a portrait photographer and founder of Vanessa Charlotte Photography, now based within Vanessa Charlotte Studios in Wolverhampton City Centre.
I specialise in Maternity, Newborn, Family, Milestones & Cake Smash, Boudoir, Adult Portraits and Branding & Headshots, creating more than beautiful photographs — I create experiences designed to help you feel comfortable, confident and completely looked after.
My love for photography began at a young age when my grandmother gifted me a Polaroid camera. That little camera sparked a lifelong fascination with capturing people, moments and the stories behind them.
In 2011, I invested in my first professional camera, initially documenting my travels and the people I met along the way. But it wasn't until becoming a mum that photography took on an entirely new meaning.
After the birth of my first child in 2019, I discovered my love for newborn and children's photography. During the 2020 lockdown, when professional photography wasn't accessible, I began teaching myself the art of newborn photography while documenting my own children's milestones. Soon I was photographing friends and family too, and what had once been a passion began to feel like something much bigger.
In December 2022, I finally took the leap into professional photography, opening my first studio in February 2023. And that dream has continued to grow.
Today, Vanessa Charlotte Photography has a home inside Vanessa Charlotte Studios, a three-floor beauty, wellness and photography destination created with women at its heart.
My clients can now experience so much more than a photoshoot. Depending on the experience you choose, your day can include professional hair and makeup, nails, access to my luxury wardrobe, time to relax and, of course, a fully guided portrait session followed by a beautiful cinematic reveal.
You don't need to know how to pose or worry about being "photogenic". That's my job.
Whether I'm documenting your pregnancy, your baby's first days, your growing family, a milestone birthday or simply celebrating you, my goal remains the same: To create an experience you'll remember and portraits you'll treasure long after you leave the studio.
Professional Background
Before pursuing photography full-time, I spent seven years working as a Leisure Operations Manager, Fitness Coach and Personal Trainer at the Pan Peninsula in Canary Wharf, London. Working within a luxury environment and supporting a diverse clientele, including high-profile clients and celebrities, taught me the importance of professionalism, discretion and delivering an exceptional client experience.
After starting my family, I relocated to the West Midlands to be closer to loved ones and eventually followed my passion into professional photography.
The image of me competing in a fitness event represents another important chapter of my life. Although I no longer compete, the discipline, determination and confidence I developed during those years have stayed with me.
And in a lovely full-circle moment, fitness and wellbeing are now part of my journey once again through Vanessa Charlotte Studios, where photography, beauty and wellness come together under one roof.
My career may have taken a few unexpected turns, but each chapter has helped shape the experience I create for my clients today.
Empowering Women
Empowering women has always been at the heart of what I do. My journey began in fitness, helping women feel stronger and more confident, and later continued through photography, creating a space where women could see themselves differently and celebrate every stage of their lives. Today, that purpose has grown into Vanessa Charlotte Studios, a three-floor beauty, wellness and photography destination created to help women feel good again.
Many of my photography clients travel from Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Walsall and across the West Midlands for an experience that goes far beyond beautiful photographs. From professional hair and makeup to wardrobe styling, fully guided posing and beautifully designed artwork, every detail is considered so you can simply arrive, relax and enjoy being looked after.
Whether you're celebrating motherhood, rebuilding your confidence, marking a milestone or simply choosing to do something for yourself, I want you to leave feeling seen, confident and celebrated.
A Personal Note
As a mum of three, I know just how quickly childhood changes. It's one of the reasons photographing motherhood, newborns and families means so much to me.
I also know that children don't always sit still, babies need feeding and cuddling, and sometimes things simply don't go to plan and that's absolutely fine. There's no pressure for your children to "perform" for the camera. We'll work around them, take our time and capture their personalities as they are.
Newborn photography holds a particularly special place in my heart. I find those quiet sessions incredibly calming, and there's something beautiful about knowing I'm preserving details that will change so quickly.
Outside of the studio, I'm a mum, a fiancée and dog mum to my little Chihuahua, Chyna so believe me, I understand that real family life isn't always perfectly posed. 🤍
